Tarot is a great decision making tool. Tarot outshines out other methods of divination or readings in this arena. I like to think of it as working more or less like a flight simulator, you can explore an idea or course of action, look at the cards and see if you like where it’s going. I’m sharing my favorite method of decisions spreads. Next there will be a sample reading that is followed by some closing comments including a way to work double blind.

The Tarot Aces Series

Ginny Hunt from 78 Notes to Self presents a four card series on the aces. Be sure to visit her blog for a wealth of illustrations and interesting links.

Aces in Tarot are, they say, gifts from heaven. When you get an Ace in a reading, the inclination is to feel like it’s a few days before Christmas and you just know a gift is coming. What is it?

  • Part 1: Ace of Swords
  • Part 2: Ace of Cups
  • Part 3: Ace of Wands

    MapQuest Doesn’t Help

Tell a man whose house is on fire to give a moderate alarm; tell the mother to gradually extricate her babe from the fire into which it has fallen; but urge me not to use moderation. – William Lyon Phelps

    Coming Out

I just love it when people come out of the tarot closet. Over at Tales From The Reading Room a lecturer in French Lit decided to come clean with a 15 year tarot habit.

Polarity is the possession or manifestation of two opposing attributes, tendencies, or principles. Duality is the premise that everything has an opposing force that must be, or will be in balance.

These two concepts have an important place in Astrology, Tarot and countless other applications. Dena DeCastro joins me to talk about these ideas relate to the Zodiac and Tarot. We compare and contrast cards based on attributions and intuitive relationships.

Portland Astrologer Dena DeCastro was intrigued by the planets and their surrounding mythologies from an early age. One of her first memories of really reading was of a book on astrology (Derek and Julia Parker’s famous volume). Dena also participates in continuing education in the astrology field through attending conferences and lectures, and most notably is a participant in Steven Forrest’s Apprenticeship Program. Dena publishes monthly articles at denadecastro.com, and also provides individual tutoring in astrology.

Founded in 2003, Magnatune http://www.magnatune.com/ is an independent, online record label that hand selects its own artists, sells its catalog of music through online downloads and print-on-demand CDs and licenses music for commercial and non-commercial use. Based on the principle that “we are not evil,” the company offers fair-trade music to consumers by equally sharing all revenue from the sale of albums with artists and allowing artists to retain full rights to their music. All music can be previewed free of charge with a “try before you buy” philosophy. Customers can also choose how much they want to pay for the music with pricing ranging from $5-18 for a down loadable album or print-on-demand CDs

This paragraph is no longer part of the article but here is how it read in October 2006

The advent of computer technology and the internet is changing the way tarot information is disseminated. For the self-published The WorldTree Tarot, artist Ann Cass provides a handbook as a free downloadable .pdf file from her website. Ciro Marchetti’s self-published Tarot of Dreams includes, in place of a handbook, a CD-ROM which contains a game-like interface supplying animated card images and divinatory text, as well as a full-length handbook in electronic format. Many tarot beginners find information and advice on forums such as Aeclectic Tarot Forum and e-lists such as TarotL. The Tarot Connection is a series of podcasts featuring interviews with tarot practictioners, authors, artists, and others prominent in the tarot community. There is even a Tarot Wiki.
